Yedam Church, which derives its name from the Christian tenet of striving to become like Jesus, is the result of an architectural solution to the church’s desire to establish a relationship with the local community. The church stands out for its strong spatial centrality through the use of a circular plan, and for its single, large mass. However, this is a reflection of the desire of the church to be involved with the community. The building’s
circulation which makes best use of the sloped terrain, the low wall which considers a close connection with the surrounding area, and the adequately-sized interior space which encourages religious activity in a cozy environment, all show Junglim’s consistent attitude in regards to church architecture which is not limited to expressions of form.
