Located at the Seoul tollgate on the Gyeongbu Expressway, the site has a unique condition due to the contextual character, which operates as an important element for site planning and landscaping. We established a comprehensive master plan to create a sense of place with the research center involving high technology, explore humanity as well as amenity to serve the functions of intellectual production, design a form that adapts itself to the topography, and fulfill the function of responding to the surroundings such as the adjacent expressway. Considering the environment of a research center, important elements would include not only architectural functioning but also significant landscaping, securing sufficient space outside for rest to dissolve excessive stress and frustration coming from work.
