Given the situation of the metropolitan city that connects the Nam Mountain and Inwang Mountain, the form of an opening gate between the two towers was taken, and a method of reducing heat loss by using stone as a finishing material for the east and west elevations was considered. The ground level of the building was arranged to allow people to travel freely among independent shops, maximizing both pedestrian convenience and access to retails. The two masses are connected up to the sixth floor, and the image of a bottom of the gate supporting the towers was realized instead of the general form of a podium. The biggest challenge was to add interest to the proportion due to the limited height of the 17-story building. The inclined face of the outer section was designed to supplement the insufficiency of the proportion and was re-interpreted as a way to reinforce the image of the gate. As the location is seen when traveling from the entrance of Insa-dong via the Nam Mountain to Gangnam, the district south of the Han River and the peak of the building is visible from the starting point of the Cheonggyecheon, the building is valuable enough to stimulate a challenge in the spirit of the architecture. There is no doubt that the building will breathe new life into this location with all the innovative touches and enthusiasm our team members will weave into it.
