Research institutes in the 21st century are evolving. As more and more institutes are built in nature with pleasant environments, the importance of community and smooth communication among researchers is highlighted as well, and institutes with original and beautiful exteriors are becoming popular as a way to revitalize a community. Accordingly, we designed the concept of a“ science tree”where synergy takes place with an eco-friendly arrangement and active interlaboratory exchange among researchers. The science tree growing in harmony with nature, convergence and dynamics is the appearance of DGIST dreaming of science. In addition, a pleasant research environment was created by arranging labs to face south and applying the clean air system of labs and the independent structural plan to prevent any disturbance in experiments resulting from vibration. The design was focused on the original symbolism of leading into the future.
